My grandmother suffered and passed away from cancer so this was something that was very close to me. She always played the piano and I remember how it helped her when she was feeling hopeless or ill, it gave her a sense of joy and relief.  I knew that the piano was going to play a huge role in the score because it's so versatile and organic I was able to help drive the story forward or let it breath with just a few chords.
